Our ADU Drywall Installation & Finishing Process
High-end ADU finishes aren’t rushed—they’re built through a proven, step-by-step process.
Our turnkey drywall system is designed specifically for accessory dwelling units (ADUs), combining precision installation, Level 4–5 finishing, professional primer, and interior painting—all handled by one experienced team.
Each phase is carefully sequenced to create flat planes, tight joints, and smooth, shadow-free walls—delivering clean, modern interiors built to perform under natural and artificial lighting.
Completed by L.A. Drywall Inc., serving ADU projects across Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond, and throughout Snohomish & King County.
1. - Drywall Delivery & Material Staging →
Drywall sheets (often over 100 lbs each) are delivered and strategically stocked throughout the space to reduce handling, prevent damage, and streamline installation.
2. - Pre-Drywall Prep & Wall Flattening →
We shim and plane framing to correct imperfections and create flat, straight surfaces—essential for high-end Level 4 and Level 5 finishes.
3. - Drywall Installation
Drywall is installed with precise layout, fastening, and tight seams to ensure structural integrity and clean, consistent transitions.
4. - Jobsite Protection & Floor Prep
We remove debris and protect floors and surfaces with paper and masking to keep the project clean, organized, and efficient from start to finish.
5. - Multi-Coat Taping & Level 4–5 Finishing
Multiple coats of mud, sanding, and skim coating (Level 5) create smooth, uniform surfaces designed to perform under natural and artificial lighting.
6. - Precision Masking for Primer & Paint
All non-finished areas are carefully masked to ensure sharp lines, clean edges, and a controlled application environment.
7. - Two-Coat Primer Application & Detailed Touch-Ups
We apply the first coat of PVA primer, complete detailed touch-ups, then apply a second coat for even coverage and a paint-ready surface.
8. - Interior Painting (Turnkey Finish)
Professional interior painting is included, delivering a durable, consistent finish with one contractor—no handoffs, no delays.
9. - Final Cleanup & Debris Removal
All drywall scrap, dust, and debris are removed, leaving your ADU clean, safe, and ready for final use or the next phase.
